Is Online Dating Online "Skin Deep"?

It seems that more and more online dating sites are geared towards beauty and money. Take, for example, the recent online dating site that is getting major press, beautiful people net. This was officailly launched at the end of July with much "Fan Fair". USA today states in its article "The criteria are shamelessly superficial: a recent photograph (bikinis and bare biceps encouraged) and body statistics. Is your six-pack more of a two-pack? The site also accepts "people with personal/professional qualities that stand out from the majority" read more here. So what is your thoughts on this?

My opinion, I think that having varied online dating sites is a great as it reaches out to people who want, or need, specific criteria. Read more on this here at Online Dating Resources: Online Dating Resources

Are You Serious About Online Dating?

If you are serious about using an online dating memebership site to meet people, to find friendships and/or a serious relationship, but you are not having too much success with the services you are currently using, here are some tips:

1. When joining any online dating membership site be sure to complete the membership profile as much as possible. If you are not comfortable answering any question(s) where anyone can read your response, don't leave it blank, put in it's place "ask me" or something along those line. You won't seem to be very interesting if you leave most of the profile questions blank, the answers you've given don't seem realistic or it seems you haven't really thought much about your answers.

2. Include a photo of yourself. The photograph should be a very recent, and even if you are drawn to using someone elses photo - DO NOT. The pic should be in color and showing you from the shoulders up, at the very least (lower for some sites ). Most people on online dating sites that are getting disappointing results to personals is because they don't have a picture posted. If you don't have a good one, have a friend take one!

3. Many online dating sites now allow you to upload a short video message. How wonderful!! Get yourself a webcam and have some fun creating it. Keep your message short, to the point (but honest and fun) and be sure that your face is visible and your voice is as relaxed as possible. Do it over and over before you submit it if you have to. Remember, this is YOUR fist impression to your potential love.

4. Try different online dating sites and don't be afraid to spend $$ for a full membership. You'll get noticed more because you will have more options and more contacts. Your online dating experience will be greatly enhanced!

Chemistry or Personality?

I had an email from a man the other day who was talking about meeting people through online dating sites. He had several meetings and was confused by his reactions. He asked if love, true love, is personality or chemistry?

I asked a male friend of mine what he thought on this subject. What he said was "the way to a man's heart is his stomach, the way to a women's heart is humour". I thought about that for awhile and had to agree, at least as far as the female side. Humour is such a wonderful ingredient in a relationship. Who needs food when you can laugh?! But then again, what about chemistry. If you meet someone that has everything you want in a mate but there is no chemistry do you still persue it?
